Bergen Networking Group Takes Action Against Hunger

Bergen Networking Group (BNG) President Fernando Sosa presented Joshua Klavan, President of Shearit HaPlate of Bergen County, Inc. (SHPBC) with the Networking Group’s financial contribution in support of SHPBC.

"On behalf of SHPBC,  I want to express my deep gratitude to the members of the Bergen Networking Group for their very generous donation and recognition of our organization. We applaud the BNG for recognizing the need to provide networking opportunities for our local businesses and at the same time focus more broadly on the greater community and its needs. With BNG’s assistance, SHPBC will be able to continue to provide food rescued from within our community to those in need in a respectful manner without compromising on these individuals’ privacy and self-esteem.  Our mission to promote an awareness of food abundance and its waste within our society is greatly enhanced today because of BNG."

Mr. Sosa explained that the Bergen Networking Group, started in 2005, prides itself on its members and their dedication to the group and to one another.  The BNG gives its members the opportunity to build strategic partnerships, find new business opportunities, and learn from others' experiences in a friendly and professional atmosphere. This not only makes for better networking, it also places the membership in a much better position to assist visitors who are perhaps seeking valuable, reliable and dependable resources for their own businesses. Mr. Sosa also added that “the BNG members also realize that in addition to the responsibility they have for one another, there is also a need to connect with the community.”

The Bergen Networking Group currently meets most Thursdays at 7:30 AM at the law offices of Michael Baer, LLC, 412 Cedar Lane, Teaneck, NJ.  Further information concerning the Group may be found at www.BergenNetworkingGroup.com or by sending an e-mail to info@BergenNetworkingGroup.com.

Shearit HaPlate of Bergen County  is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to minimizing the waste of kosher food from local family occasions, community events, restaurants, and stores, and distributing that food to those in need.  For the past six years, SHPBC has been collecting, repackaging and distributing surplus food to individuals and families in Teaneck and surrounding communities in a respectful way that helps to ensure the recipients' dignity.  In addition, its successful annual post-Purim collection of leftover non-perishable food has resulted in the donation of a significant amount of food to local families, food pantries and other charitable organizations.  SHPBC is a recognized 501(c)(3) charitable organization, and any monetary donations are tax-deductible.

Further information about SHPBC can be found at www.shpbc.org, by sending an e-mail to shpbcinc@gmail.com or by dialing (225)366-8383.
